IARTEM
 (The International Association for Research on Textbooks and Educational Media) and University of Opole are pleased to announce that the 18th International Conference on Textbooks and Educational Media will take place at University of Opole, Poland, 23-25 September 2026. The conference will also be open for online participation.

The conference will be open to professionals from all over the world who work in the field of textbooks and educational media research and design. The programme includes an intensive doctoral session for PhD students on 22 September 2026.

March 15th 2026 – submission of the abstracts

May 20th 2026 – final acceptance of the abstracts

May 20th 2026 – opening date for registration and payment

July 15th 2026 – closing date for registration and payment

Call for abstracts

The IARTEM 2024 Conference invites submissions for both paper and poster presentations. Please read the call for abstracts for each format to determine the best option for presenting your research.

Paper presentation format

Each paper presentation will consist of 20 minutes for the presentation, followed by 10 minutes for questions and discussion Paper presentations should be based on ongoing or completed research projects related to the conference theme.

Abstracts for paper presentations

  • Length: 400–500 words (excluding a maximum of 5 references)
  • APA style should be used for referencing sources (https://apastyle.apa.org/)
  • Structure of the abstract:
    • Title
    • Main body, following this structure: clearly defined research problem and research question, explanation of the method and/or methodology and its relevance to the research question, description of data and how it is analyzed (if empirical research), results or preliminary results
  • 2–5 keywords
  • Abstracts must be written in English
  • Abstracts will undergo double-blind peer review by experienced researchers.


    Poster sessions format

    Poster presenters prepare a printed poster in A0 or A1-format, and a 5 minute oral presentation. Subjects for poster presentations are ongoing or finished research projects that relate to the conference’s theme by empirical research (contributions of a scientific nature including a literature reference, problem statement, research questions, description of the methodology, presentation of research results and discussion). Posters and poster presentations are in English.

    Abstracts for poster presentations:

    • Length: 250-300 words
    • Structure of the abstract:
    • Title
    • Main body, following this structure: research question, objectives and theoretical framework, research methods, findings or expected outcomes.
    • 2–5 keywords
    • Abstracts must be written in English.
